Development Executive, Bord Iascaigh Mhara

Hailing from a rural coastal community in the Galway Gaeltacht, Cliodhna has always had a connection with the sea. Currently a Business Development Executive with Bord Iascaigh Mhara, Cliodhna works with the seafood clients with a particular focus on pelagic species. Her main role focuses on enhancing competitiveness for seafood clients, with a core commodity focus whilst also diversifying into higher value product opportunities.  Cliodhna works with the sector and research providers on developing and integrating new processes, extending the processing season through market led value-add opportunities, enhancing value from established and under-utilised species. A key area of interest is the Blue Bioeconomy, helping the sector discover and adopt more sustainable processes and full utilisation of raw material.

Prior to BIM, Cliodhna has worked in project management roles within the public sector. Focusing on innovation, sustainability and supporting clients with their business development with particular focus on marine and natural resources.

Initially working in the private sector, Cliodhna has varied experience across the food industry, with roles in New Product Development for Irish companies, working in seafood and consumer ready meals or ready to cook meals. Coupled with NPD, Cliodhna has extensive experience working as a project manager on market research projects on global FMCG brands and sensory research projects within the Irish food sector.
